Jankovic's road to the US Open begins here in Portoroz. The Serb has disappointed in the slams in 2010 and is still seeking her maiden major title but has stayed extremely consistent in the other tournaments, winning Indian Wells and making the Rome final. As a result she's currently the world number two.
Jankovic was runner-up at the US Open two years ago. With many of the elite female players struggling for year-round consistency at the moment, she could be a serious contender at Flushing Meadows if she gets on a run of form over the next month.
